Emergency Hebrew Phrases: What to Say in a Crisis in Israel

Critical Hebrew phrases for emergencies, medical situations & security. First responders and expats: this guide could save a life. Learn in 10 minutes.

Emergency Hebrew: Medical, Police, and Crisis Situations

Let me tell you about the scariest moment of my life in Israel.

A2

Basic

Best after the alphabet and your first phrases

I was hiking near the Dead Sea when my friend collapsed. Heat stroke. I fumbled for my phone, hands shaking, and called 101 (Israeli ambulance). The dispatcher answered in rapid Hebrew.

My brain went blank. COMPLETELY blank. All those Hebrew lessons? Gone. I knew the word "ืขื–ืจื”" (help) and that was IT.

Thank God the dispatcher switched to English. But as I sat there waiting for the ambulance, watching my friend barely conscious, I made myself a promise: never again would I be unprepared in an emergency.

This guide exists because of that day. These aren't fun vocabulary wordsโ€”they're life-saving phrases that I genuinely hope you NEVER need. But if you do? You'll be so grateful you learned them.

Let's make sure you're prepared.
