The conjunction is always given in its spoken form וְ ("ve-") — that is how people say it. Vocalized texts change it to וּ ("u-") or וַ ("va-") by rule, but that makes no difference in everyday speech.

The gender of the numeral follows the noun: שְׁלוֹשָׁה יְלָדִים (three boys) but שָׁלוֹשׁ בָּנוֹת (three girls). When counting aloud, Israelis use the feminine forms.
